Nairobi, Kenya:

Kenya’s capital city has risen in a single century from a brackish uninhabited swampland to a thriving modern capital. Modern Nairobi is still the safari capital of the Africa, but the modern world has quickly caught up with the city. A frontier town no more, Nairobi has become one of Africa’s largest, and most interesting cities. This is a place of great contrasts where race, tribe and origin all become facets of a unique Nairobi character.

This is not a modern capital separated from the great wilderness that surrounds it. Just outside the city is Nairobi National Park, 113 sq kms of plains, cliffs and forest. The park is home to large herds of Zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Giraffe and more. Rhino, Cheetah, and a large number of Lions are all found here, living wild within 20 minutes of the centre of town.

Aberdares, Kenya:

The Aberdares are an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern wall of the rift valley, running about 100 Km north south between Nairobi and Thompsons Falls. This beautifully scenic region is much cooler than the savannahs and offers a completely different perspective on the country. The national park lies mainly above the tree line. The scenery is spectacular with its mountainous terrain covered in thick tropical forests swathed in mist.

The thrill of game viewing in this park is an Elephant or Buffalo suddenly appearing out of the thick rainforest vegetation. One of the best places to see the local denizens is at one of the waterholes by the lodge. The Park has several high mountain peaks, deep ravines with icy mountain streams and many beautiful waterfalls with a moorland plateau.

The forest is home to populations of forest Elephants, Buffalo, Lion and several species of antelope such as Waterbuck, Duiker, the rare Suni and Bushbuck. If you are very lucky you might catch a glimpse of Kenya’s rarest antelope, the Bongo. The Park is also home to a healthy population of Black Rhino. Serval and Leopard also occur some of which have a rare black coat. There are many species of primates, including Black and White Colobus and Sykes and Vervet Monkey’s.

Lake Naivasha, Kenya:

Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus. The lake is almost 13kms across, but its waters are shallow with an average depth of five metres.

Afternoon wind and storms can cause the Lake to become suddenly rough and produce high waves. For this reason, the local Maasai christened the lake Nai’posha meaning ‘rough water’. The lake and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya’s prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree.

These forests abound with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows.

Masaai Mara, Kenya:

Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya – Africa. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. Wildlife tends to be most concentrated on the reserve’s western escarpment.

The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve.

The Mara is known as one of the finest wildlife destinations in the World. There is an excellent chance of seeing the Big 5, cheetah, serval, hyena, bat-eared foxes, black-backed and side-striped jackals, hippo, crocodile, baboons, warthog, topi, eland, Thompson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, impala, waterbuck, oribi, reed-buck, zebra. During the migration (July to November) huge numbers of wildebeest move in.

[av_tab title=’FAQs’ icon_select=’no’ icon=’ue800′ font=’entypo-fontello’]
What do I need to be pack for?

We advise that you carry winter clothing for this trip because it is always cooler in temperature, as evenings and early mornings will be colder compared to the afternoons. We also suggest avoiding bright colored clothing especially if you plan to explore on foot. You may also carry caps/hats, sunglasses, scarf, comfortable walking shoes with socks, insect repellant (recommended to be used sparingly and only if needed), swimwear, lip balm, and a flashlight/torch. You may also carry a dust mask if you are allergic, these will be available at souvenir shops at the destination as well. Please also carry along a first aid kit and prescription medication.

Do you provide guidance for photography?

While photography is not the primary focus of our expedition, we recognize that rarely anyone travels to the wilderness without a camera in one form or the other. We will do our best to provide you opportunities for photography as well, however please keep in mind the focus remains experiential so if you are travelling to photograph a particular subject, this may not be the trip for you.

How many people will be with me in a safari jeep?

To provide comfortable seating during the safari, you would be in the company of two guests and your expedition skipper which ensures a comfortable seating of four in the safari jeep. The jeep driver and mandatory forest guide would be seated in front in separate seats.

Is there a more budget-friendly option?

Yes, trips to the wilderness can be far more budget-friendly than this, you can choose to join tours more friendly on the pocket or plan to travel on your own, which we will be happy to help you with. However, the experience we wish to provide on this expedition goes far beyond a regular trip, and it is our belief you will find as much value, if not more in such an expedition.

How are your tours different?

Please find the full details of the same here

This will be my first trip to the wilderness? Is this recommended?

Absolutely! The objective of this expedition is make you experience the magic of the wild, and we will be always be thrilled to share this with someone who will be visiting the wilderness for the first time. Our trips are designed to introduce you to the wild in a comfortable environment, in an unhurried manner, which we truly believe is the way to be one with nature.

How will I reach the destination?

You will have to take a flight till Nairobi, which are available from all the major cities in India as well as many international destinations.

Is it safe to go?

Yes, visiting tiger reserves is quite safe. Many of our country’s popular tiger reserves see lakhs of visitors every year and numbers are growing every year and instances of travellers or tourists facing any threat from wildlife are extremely rare. However, especially when exploring a wilderness on foot, we should take necessary precautions as this is the wild. Our skippers are always on hand to guide you for the same, and we believe there should be no hindrance to you enjoying your time in the wilderness.

Can I get my children along?

While we believe the sooner children are introduced to the wilderness the better, a 4-hour long safari can provide challenging for a young child’s comfort. Therefore as a policy, we believe it is best that children younger than 10 years old not be part of the expedition. We do realize that some children adapt to safaris much quicker, and if a child is comfortable and used to taking safaris, we can look at exceptions but we believe such a policy is in the interest of comfort for all as well as the welfare of wildlife.

Can you arrange for a camera as well along with the binoculars?

We do not currently offer camera equipment rental but would happy to assist you and put you in touch with third-party providers who can seek to provide you with the camera equipment of your choosing.
